This week, Shanghai hosts the 9th International Conference on Polyolefin Characterisation (ICPC2025), where Carlos Domínguez, director of the Polymer Technology Laboratory (LATEP) at Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), has been invited as a speaker in the session on Sustainability and Circularity of Polymers.

Last September, the Polymer Technology Laboratory (LATEP) took part in the World Plastic Pipe Congress (PPCA Conference & Exhibition XXII), where it presented two research papers.

LATEP has recently obtained ENAC accreditation in accordance with the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for conducting the CRB (Cracked Round Bar, ISO 18489) and FNCT (Full Notch Creep Test, ISO 16770) tests. These accreditations add to the one already obtained in 2023 for the Strain Hardening test (ISO 18488).

During the celebration of the 2024 China International Plastics Exhibition, an exhibition that has been held in Nanjing (November 1 to 3) and that brings together more than 1,000 exhibitors and around 74,000 participants, with the participation of companies, industries and research centres related to plastic material, the China Plastic Processing Industry Association (CPPIA) has signed a framework collaboration agreement with the Rey Juan Carlos University and the Polymer Technology Laboratory, which was represented by its director, Dr. Carlos Domínguez, who also presented the work entitled “New materials and challenges for plastics in pipes, automobile and other industries” where he reviewed the most important research lines in which the LATEP has been actively involved in recent years.

CIRPLACAR, a collaborative project involving LATEP, IMDEA Energía, and the Institute of Structure of Matter, secured second place in the 4th edition of the SIGRAUTO Innovation in Recovery Awards at the X National Meeting on End-of-Life Vehicle Management and Recycling in IFEMA Madrid.
