During the celebration of the 2024 China International Plastics Exhibition, an exhibition that has been held in Nanjing (November 1 to 3) and that brings together more than 1,000 exhibitors and around 74,000 participants, with the participation of companies, industries and research centres related to plastic material, the China Plastic Processing Industry Association (CPPIA) has signed a framework collaboration agreement with the Rey Juan Carlos University and the Polymer Technology Laboratory, which was represented by its director, Dr. Carlos Domínguez, who also presented the work entitled “New materials and challenges for plastics in pipes, automobile and other industries” where he reviewed the most important research lines in which the LATEP has been actively involved in recent years.

CIRPLACAR, a collaborative project involving LATEP, IMDEA Energía, and the Institute of Structure of Matter, secured second place in the 4th edition of the SIGRAUTO Innovation in Recovery Awards at the X National Meeting on End-of-Life Vehicle Management and Recycling in IFEMA Madrid.

On May 28th, Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC) celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Laboratory of Polymer Technology and Materials (LATEP).

The recent development of ultra-resistant polyethylene grades for water and gas conduction (PE100RC) represents a significant breakthrough for the industry due to a substantial improvement in the resistance of these new materials to slow crack growth, which is the primary long-term failure mode of polyethylene pipes during service.

LATEP has signed an important collaboration agreement with the company CEIS for the investigation and evaluation of the new PE100RC (Resistant to Crack) pipes.
