The commitment of the LATEP with the Quality, the continuous improvement and the customer service are critical aspects of our Quality System and it is clearly reflected in the Quality Policy of the laboratory.

The LATEP is a certified laboratory for the characterization of polymeric materials according to the ISO 9001:2015 quality system (certificate number ES128405-1). On the other hand, the LATEP has also followed some of the ISO 17025 requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

Laboratory quality policy

The fundamental mission of The Polymer Technology Laboratory (LATEP) is to offer support to the analysis, characterization and research needs in polymeric materials requested by our customers, being the main activity the execution of characterization tests of polymeric materials.

The Laboratory Management undertakes the commitment of giving a service to our customers based on the good laboratory practices and a high quality level in the developed activities as well as ensuring compliance with the legal and regulatory requirements that apply to the activities carried out by the laboratory.

Laboratory activities are carried out in an impartial manner. All laboratory personnel, from High Management, are committed to impartiality and are responsible for the impartiality of all laboratory activities. Laboratory management will identify risks to its impartiality on an ongoing basis and will have the ability to eliminate or minimize such risks.

For this purpose, a quality system that complies with the UNE-EN-ISO 9001 standard has been implemented for the entire scope of the laboratory's tests. In addition, in the case of the Strain Hardening Modulus Determination test (ISO 18488), the quality system satisfies all the points of the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard.

These are main objectives of the quality system:

  • To keep and improve the quality of the test carried out by the laboratory identifying the opportunities for improvement and working according to national and international standard regulations.
  • To become a reference in the application of polymer technology by maintaining a high level of knowledge and actively organizing or attending to specialized conferences to disseminate the laboratory activities, consolidating its position and corporate image.
  • To get the maximum satisfaction level of the customers with the rendered services.
  • To continuously improve the implemented quality system.

To accomplish with the above stated objectives, the laboratory management promotes a quality policy based on the following principles:

  1. Independence of the laboratory tasks with the rest of the university activities.
  2. To act with responsibility and transparency guaranteeing the impartiality, confidentiality and customer satisfaction to keep and improve the relationships with our customers.
  3. To establish an employee training plan, assuring that team members know and apply the quality system requirements and work with updated information.
  4. To keep suitable resources for the developing of our activities in the framework of an effective and efficient organization, following the principles of respect and active participation in every aspect of the dairy work in the laboratory.
  5. To promote relationships and strategic alliances with public and private organizations and institutions that might favor the objectives set on our Quality Policy.
  6. To protect and preserve the workplace safety and the environment in every activity.

The LATEP management wants to emphasize the importance of the proper comprehension, implementation and updating of this Policy in all the laboratory activities being committed to acquire the resources needed to achieve this goal and to accomplish an adequate monitoring of the efficiency.

Quality is not only and objective but also a responsibility of the laboratory staff that must be conscious of the significance of the developed activities to contribute to the quality system targets.
